about us

In 1935, Moe Zimmerman was a young entrepreneur with a drive to succeed. He began his career going door to door in New York City, buying maintenance supplies to resell to apartment property managers in New Jersey. Despite facing numerous challenges and setbacks, Moe’s hard work and persistence paid off when one of his clients asked him for an ice box. Never one to turn down a customer, Moe began selling appliances, and soon opened his first retail showroom, Brick Church Appliance, in Orange, New Jersey.

As the business grew, Moe realized the need for additional help to scale his operations. He brought in his son-in-law Chuck Lubetkin, a recent Air Force Fighter Pilot veteran and electrical engineer, to help him grow. With Chuck’s assistance, Brick Church Appliance quickly became a thriving business with multiple locations within the Tri-State area. Years later when Chuck’s son David finished his college soccer career & academic studies at Princeton University, Moe and Chuck welcomed him into the business as the third generation.

Brick Church Appliance continued to grow, reaching peak annual revenues surpassing $100,000,000 with 41 retail locations. In 1990, the company was acquired.
David decided to bring Moe’s original maintenance supply business back to life, and soon found himself expanding into kitchen cabinets in response to client requests. He opened Cabinets Direct USA, a kitchen and bath retail showroom in Orange, New Jersey, and quickly scaled the business to multiple locations. David was later joined by his son Mark and daughter Jami.
In 2019, David decided to expand the business into South Florida, opening two retail locations under the name Zimmerman Kitchen Design in honor of his grandfather Moe Zimmerman.
Today, David, Mark, and Jami continue to build on their family’s legacy by striving to provide their clients with the best possible experience. Through their hard work and dedication, they have built a business that honors the entrepreneurial spirit of their grandfather and great-grandfather, and they look forward to continuing the tradition for generations to come.
